Tournament Rules

SITUATIONS OR OCCURRENCES THAT THESE RULES DO NOT ADDRESS SHALL BE LEFT TO THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS!

FIELD DIMENSIONS:
Length - 40 yards
Width - 30 yards
(U8 Dimensions: Length - 30 yards, Width - 20 yards

GOALS:
4 feet high by 8 feet wide.

GOAL BOX:
The goal box, ten feet wide by six feet long, is directly in front of the goal.  There is no ball contact allowed within the goal box, however any player may pass through the goal box.  If the ball comes to rest in the goal box, a goal kick is awarded regardless of who touched the ball last.  Any part of the ball or player's body on the line is considered in the goal box and is an extension of such.  If a defender touches the ball in the goal box, a goal is awarded to the offensive team.  If an offensive player touches the ball within the goal box, a goal kick is awarded  to the defensive team.

TOURNAMENT EQUIPMENT:
All players must wear shin guards.  Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play. 
Teams are responsible for providing game balls.
U8 use a size 3
U10 - U12 use a size 4
U13 and up use a size 5.

OFF-SIDES RULE IS NOT ENFORCED IN 3v3

NO SLIDE TACKLING:
Players must stay upright and "on their feet" and should avoid making contact with opposing player.  Players may slide to stop/intercept a ball.  If a player slide tackles another player, the player will be automatically carded by the referee.  The referee will determine the severity of the foul and issue the player a "Yellow" or "RED" card.  A slide tackle from the side or rear will result in a "RED" card.

GOAL SCORING:
A goal may be scored only from a touch within a team's offensive half of the field.

GAME DURATION:
The game shall consist of two, 12-minute halves separated by a 3-minute half time period. Games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie, except in playoffs.  Players must report to the field at least 15 minutes before start of game. A team, at the discretion of the referee, will forfeit at game time if they are not present. 
No time-outs.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Substitutions may occur at any dead-ball situation, but players must enter and exit at the half-field mark only.

PLAYOFF OVERTIME:
Shall consist of a sudden-death overtime period(s) of 10 minutes each, with a coin toss to decide initial possession.  First team to score is the winner.

PENALTY KICKS:
Shall be awarded if, in the referee's opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by an infraction.  It is a direct kick taken from the middle of the half-field line with all players behind the half-field line.  After the kick, the offensive team cannot touch the ball again until the defensive team has touched it.

FIVE YARD RULE:
In all dead-ball situations, defending players must stand at least five yards away from the ball.  If the defensive player's goal is closer than five yards, the ball shall be played five yards from the goal, in line with the place of the penalty.

KICK-INS:
The ball shall be kicked into play from the sidelines, instead of thrown in.

INDIRECT KICKS:
All dead-ball kicks (kick-ins, free kicks, kick-offs) are indirect with the exception of corner/penalty kicks.

GOAL KICKS:
May be taken from any point on the endline.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS:
Five is the maximum number per team; Three field players at one time (A team must have a minimum of 2 field players).  Players may only play on one team per division.  Substitutions may occur at any dead-ball situation, but players must enter and exit at the half-field mark only.

TEAM UNIFORMS:
All players must wear jerseys/shirts during play and each team must bring both a light and a dark colored jersey/shirt. If both teams are wearing the same color a coin flip in pool play will determine the team to change uniforms.  In playoffs the higher seed will have the option.  Numbers on the jerseys are not required, but are encouraged.

KICK-OFF:
May be taken in any direction.

PLAYER REGISTRATION:
All players must be registered on their team's registration form before the start of the tournament. Any team or player determined by the tournament directors to have falsified age or skill level will be dismissed from the tournament. Any substitutions after the team's first game, because of player injury or emergency, must be submitted to the tournament officials before the substituted player can play. A $10 substitution fee will be charged after the teams first game. The player who has been substituted can take no further part in the tournament. Substitutions may be made only on the first day of the tournament. Tournament directors reserve the right to demand proof of the reason for substitution and will rule accordingly.

PLAYER EJECTION (RED CARD):
Referees have the right to eject a player from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending the player off. The team may then continue with their remaining two or three players, however if the player receiving the red card was in the field of play, the team must complete the game with only two players on the field. The ejected player will also be suspended for the following game.

SCORING:
Games will be scored according to the following: 3 points for a win; 1 point for a tie; 1 point for shutout; 
0 point for a loss.

TIE BREAKERS AND SEEDING:
Teams will be seeded under the following;
(If 3 or more teams are tied in points, begin with total goals scored(#3) and continue down)
1.  Total Points - 3 for win, 1 for tie, 1 for shutout, 0 for loss.
2.  Head to Head Competition (two teams only, if applicable)
3.  Total Goals Scored (all games)
4.  Least Goals Conceded (all games)
5.  Sudden Goal Playoff (teams will play each other until goal is scored)
(If more than 2 teams are tied for Sudden Goal, Tournament Directors will determine play format)

PROTESTS:
No protests will be allowed.  If an improper situation arises, the team coach or captain shall contact a tournament director prior to beginning the game.  If the game begins, the result will be final.  All decisions made by the tournament directors will be final.

COACHES:
Teams are not required to have a coach.  Team Captain must be appointed by the team and is responsible for his/her team sportsmanship, protests, and scheduling.  Tournament directors shall only confer with team coach/captain regarding ALL tournament decisions.


SPORTSMANSHIP:
Players, coaches and spectators are expected to act in the nature of good sportsmanship at all times. Abuse of the referees will not be tolerated. Any instance of such conduct will disqualify the responsible team from the event.
